Historic Day: A Teacher, An Attorney and a Flight Attendant Take Top Honors On First Ever Virtual DC Pageant.

6-29-2020 District of Columbia. The District of Columbia has three new queens! On Saturday, June 27th, the Miss DC of America and Mrs. DC America pageant held their first ever virtual pageant online during the COVID- 19 Pandemic. Lakeisha Brown, from Friendship Height, was crowned Miss DC for America 2020. JeanAnne Roberts was crowned Mrs. DC America 2020. In addition for the first time ever in the 1st Runner- Up of Mrs. DC America was crowned with a new title: Mrs. D.C American. Helene Meister is your first ever Mrs. DC American 2020.
Lakeisha C. Brown is your new Miss DC for America 2020. She grew up and graduated from a very small town in Oxford, Pennsylvania. In fact, her town is so small that there are only two traffic lights! She has a Bachelor Degree in Art/Elementary/Special Education from Albright College. Lakeisha was awarded the 2019 District of Columbia Teacher of the Year and named as a finalist for the 2020 Washington Post Teacher of the Year. Her platform is dedicated to her life as a life-long educator and advocate for HIV/AIDS in the community. JeanAnne Roberts is your new Mrs. D.C. America 2020. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia . She has been happily married to her husband Paul Roberts for 13 years and has an 11-year-old daughter, KellyAnne and a 12-year-old son, Joseph, who are her most amazing accomplishments! She has a B.A in speech communication from Marshall University. JeanAnne also has appeared in a national ad as a model and an actor and continues to pursue this passion. JeanAnne was a former U.S Airways flight attendant for 12 years. She also loves fitness, traveling, and spending time with her family. Her Platform is mentoring young girls to become future leaders through The Girl Scouts of America, and as an Ambassador/ Share Leader for the Girl Scouts her goal is to help young girls become leaders in the community and the world. Helene Meister Is your first ever Mrs. DC American 2020. She recently graduated with a Juris Doctor from American University and previously obtained a Master’s degree from the law University of Paris. Helene worked in the French capital before relocating to Washington D.C.
Helene has been married to her husband Kris for seventeen years and has a teenage son, Kyle. She is a member of the ADDA the Attention Deficit Disorder Association and supports the Kids in Need foundation. Her son was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and speech impairment at age six and after multiple academic challenges in the private and public school system, she decided to use this experience to help other children and parents in similar situations. Her Platform is equal chances for special needs children because every child deserves equal access to education and opportunities to succeed regardless of her background and learning disabilities.
The winners of all three divisions Miss D.C for America and Mrs. D.C America and Mrs. D.C American will move on to their respective national pageants, Miss for America, Mrs. America, Mrs. American.The national pageants are scheduled to be held in October at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pageant was produced by An Officer and Gentlewoman, LLC, A Veteran-Owned production company, headquartered in Washington, DC. The event was presented by ThomasRiley Strategies, LLC, listed on Inc. magazines top 5000 companies in America.
